Canada-wide visualization contest

We are proud to announce a Canada-wide scientific visualization Contest. Hosted by the Digital Research Alliance of Canada and its regional partners, and now in its 6th year, Visualize This! is a Canada-wide Contest that aims to celebrate the innovative ways visualization can help researchers explore datasets and answer important scientific questions. Visualize This! is your chance to challenge your creativity, experiment with cutting-edge visualization tools, and contribute to the growth of data visualization in Canada!

The contest is targeting primarily early-career researchers from Canadian universities, but anyone can participate irrespective of their affiliation or career stage.

In this year’s Contest you can work on one of two geospatial datasets, both available for downloading now. One dataset is more complex, with multiple 3D fields derived from a numerical simulation of a storm over Eastern Canada. The second dataset is simpler, with the normalized difference vegetation index (NDVI) data over BC compiled from a variety of sources and fitted through a model.

The Contest timeline is:

To participate in the challenge, please register your interest – this will add you to the “Visualize This 2023” Google group where we will post all updates and announcements.
