SFU engineering science professor Mirza Faisal Beg is spearheading research that could help to redefine cancer treatment. Using artificial intelligence (AI) his breakthrough research enables imaging of the human body and organ measurements much faster than traditional methods, signaling a leap forward in harnessing AI for individually personalized healthcare solutions.

Beg says “that none of this research would have been possible without the amazing resources and support provided by the SFU Research Computing Group. James Peltier, Adam Spencer, Lixin Liu, and others on the RCG team are always going the extra mile to customize the high-performance computational infrastructure. Their unwavering dedication to supporting our research, coupled with their deep technical expertise, ensures that we can focus on pushing the boundaries of AI without being constrained by technological limitations.”

He goes on to say, “Their responsiveness, professionalism, and willingness to contribute have greatly accelerated our research endeavours. We extend our heartfelt gratitude to the entire RCG team for their exceptional service and commitment to providing the best computational services for our AI research. Their contributions are foundational to our success, and we look forward to receiving continued guidance and support from them in the future.”
